| For the better
part of 100 years, the Hillcrest Sports Centre in
Moose Jaw has been satisfying golfers from around the province. This
classic
prairie valley course has hosted many notable events including the
Saskatchewan
Senior Men’s, Women’s Amateur , Senior Ladies and in 2004 the
CLGA
National Junior Girl’s Championship.
This picturesque Hillcrest dates back to the
early 1900s when it
was called the Willowdale. In 1968 it was became the Moose Jaw Golf and
Country Club until a few years later when it was renamed the Hillcrest
Sports Centre to reflect the curling rink which forms part of the
city-owned
complex. It continues to be a favourite golf destination for those
seeking
a challenging, popular track.
Hillcrest measures 6,400 yards from the tips
favouring the accurate
shot-maker. While relatively short in length, the course is heavily
treed
with tight landing areas, and features dramatic elevation changes.
